Matthew Hammond, MD

Matthew D. Hammond , grew up in Utah and graduated magna cum laude from Utah State University where he received many awards and honors for his academic excellence. He attended George Washington University Medical School and completed his Ophthalmology training at the world renowned Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He has been stationed around the world caring for our nations greatest asset – the men and women of the Armed Forces.

While in the Army he participated in many research projects, published several peer reviewed articles and has spoken at national and international conferences. He was selected as the European director of War fighter Refractive Surgery. He is a member of the nations finest ophthalmology groups, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Utah Society of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Hammond has been named one of the Top Doctors by Castle Connolly, and is named as one of America’s Most Compassionate Doctors by Vitals. He is a founding member of the Refractive Surgery Alliance and currently serves as Treasurer.  Dr. Hammond feels that refractive surgery is a life changing procedure. He can often be overheard telling patients, “It’s my favorite thing to do, I have the best job in the world!”
