After receiving her Doctor of Medicine, Dr. McIntire completed a Transitional Internship at the University of Tennessee. She then traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to participate in the Ophthalmology Residency at Wake Forest University Eye Center, where she was chief resident. Growing up on the Gulf Coast, Dr. McIntire spent her time fishing, waterskiing, and scuba diving. She still loves to get out on the water, but now also enjoys spending time with her family on land by hiking, bike riding, and playing sports. They also volunteer with a number of civic organizations in town such as the Capital Area Food Bank and Boy Scouts of America as well as their church and school.

For Dr. McIntire, the best thing about Austin are the patients who have trusted her with their vision. “My patients have blessed my life every bit as I have theirs. I’m grateful to be able to have a positive impact on people’s lives by helping to improve their vision,” says Dr. McIntire.
