Aaron N. Waite, MD is assistant professor of ophthalmology and Director of the Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery department at the University of Tennessee Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis and Medical Director of the Mid-South Eye Bank.
Dr. Waite graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He then completed residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, earning the 2010 ASCRS Foundation Resident Excellence Award. The following year, Dr. Waite completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery under the mentorship of Michael J. Taravella, MD, and Richard S. Davidson, MD, at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
After two years in private practice at New Eyes in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Waite returned to the University of Tennessee Hamilton Eye Institute as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery program. He specializes in advanced corneal surgeries including DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, PKP, state-of-the-art cataract surgery, and cutting-edge refractive surgery including LASIK, PRK, ICLs and refractive lens exchange.
Beyond his clinical duties to his patients, Dr. Waite trains the next generation of eye surgeons, participates in multiple research studies, and serves as Medical Director of the second oldest eye bank in the United States, the Mid-South Eye Bank.
