Ranju Ganesh, OD, is currently practicing at SharpeVision Modern LASIK in Chicago, IL. Dr. Ganesh has had a passion for healthcare and wellness from the get-go which was first inspired by her mother, a registered dietician. Her mother encouraged Dr. Ganesh to begin volunteering at the hospital she worked at, University of Minnesota Medical Center, and it was here that Dr. Ganesh realized the importance and impact of healthcare. Throughout college, Dr. Ganesh explored different avenues within healthcare and decided to shadow her childhood optometrist with whom she has a close relationship with. She instantly knew that this was a good fit for her, as optometry allowed for a good balance of technical skills, communication with patients, and most importantly developing relationships with her patients for the longevity of their care.
When patients first meet Dr. Ganesh, they will be treated like family. This practice philosophy is one that she holds of the highest importance. “Would it be in the best interest of my brother, cousin, uncle or friend to have refractive surgery done? Will they be fully satisfied and have realistic expectations with their outcome? Will they trust in me, our facility, our technology, and surgeon?” These are questions that Dr. Ganesh will always be asking herself when seeing her patients, and they will be addressed in a transparent and empathetic manner.
Refractive surgery is such an exciting field for Dr. Ganesh to be a part of, as she helps make what patients thought to be impossible, a possibility. Being free of glasses and contact lenses to improve all daily activities of living is something that many patients dream of, and having had laser vision correction herself, Dr. Ganesh can relate to patients in terms of hoping to improve their quality of life. She is honored to be part of a field that is constantly changing with technology, and one that has such a quick turnaround for patient satisfaction and overall happiness.
After earning her B.S. in Biology at the University of MN Twin Cities, Dr. Ganesh graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in 2016 as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa honors society. During her rotations, Dr. Ganesh had first-hand experience at a refractive surgery center to become familiarized with pre and post-operative care of patients. In her free time, Dr. Ganesh loves looking up new cooking recipes, staying active, and playing with her rescue pup, Franklin.
