Bryan Monson, MD is a world-class refractive surgeon, having studied under some of the pioneers of refractive surgery. He has performed over 12,000 advanced cataract and refractive procedures. Dr. Monson is consistently ranked in the top 1% in patient satisfaction surveys, including the Top 10 Doctor Award for Arizona, Top 10 Doctor for the Phoenix metro area, and The Compassionate Physician Award as annually chosen by the public.
Dr. Monson’s specialties include Topography Guided and WaveFront Optimized LASIK, Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (ReLEx SMILE), Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), Femtosecond Advanced Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery with Intraoperative Aberrometry (ORA) guidance, Advanced Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), AcuFocus™ KAMRA inlays, Pterygium P.E.R.F.E.C.T. Dr. Monson was the Chief Ophthalmology Resident at New England Eye Center at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and completed an Ophthalmic Fellowship at The John Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City. He served as a Transitional Surgical-Medical Intern at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He received his Doctor of Medicine with academic honors at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He has lectured extensively, winning the ARVO lecture honorable mention award for his novel contributions in intraocular lens materials. He has over 40 scientific publications in the peer review literature for his contributions in novel diagnostics, innovations in surgical techniques and ophthalmic imaging technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.
Dr. Monson also holds a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston with an emphasis on healthcare delivery and innovation, and a National Healthcare Policy degree at Brandeis University’s Heller School Social Policy and Management. He received his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University in Provo Utah.
Dr. Monson is the founder of Insight Humanitarian, a Non-governmental Organization dedicated to alleviating the impact of blindness in developing nations including work in El Salvador, Mexico, Ghana and the Republic of Mali. His outside joys in life include fly fishing the Yellowstone River, hiking with his loved ones, mountain biking through the aspens of Utah, and most important, spending time with his family and church service.
