Jeffrey B. Robin, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has been in practice since 1985. For most of the last 25 years, Dr. Robin has devoted his career to LASIK as well as other laser vision correction and refractive surgical procedures (including Intacs, Corneal Inlays for presbyopia, and the new SMILE laser vision correction technique). He was involved in some of the early FDA clinical trials for both PRK and LASIK, as well as several industry-sponsored refractive surgery clinical studies.
Dr. Robin has held full-time positions in the Departments of Ophthalmology at the University of Southern California, University of Illinois at Chicago, Westside VA Medical Center (Chicago), and Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland). He also established Cornea and Refractive Surgery practices in suburban Chicago, Cleveland and Orlando. He has served as Medical Director and Chief Surgeon at TLC Laser Eye Centers (Tampa, Boca Raton) and LASIK Plus Vision Centers (Orlando, Jacksonville). Most recently, he developed LASIK and Refractive Surgery services in Ft. Myers and Broward County FL; in both settings he also initiated successful Dry Eye Centers of Excellence. For the last 12 years, Dr. Robin has held the position of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at UCF College of Medicine (Orlando).
Dr. Robin did his undergraduate training at Pennsylvania State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He received his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College (Philadelphia) in 1978 and completed an ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University (Washington DC) in 1982 where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Robin completed a Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles) and a National Eye Institute-sponsored Corneal Virology and Immunology research fellowship at the Louisiana State University Eye Center (New Orleans).
Dr. Robin has been a member of numerous medical and ophthalmic professional organizations and has served on several professional editorial and advisory boards including President, in the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), the largest professional organization devoted to this field and Dr Robin is a Member of the Executive Committee of the Refractive Surgery Alliance.
Dr. Robin has a significant record of teaching, research and clinical achievement. He has published nearly 200 scientific papers, abstracts and book chapters, most involving LASIK and other forms of refractive surgery. Dr. Robin has also given hundreds of lectures to eye doctors both in the USA and around the world. He has received several prestigious professional awards, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Honor Award, the ISRS’s Lans Honorary Lectureship and the ISRS Founders’ Award, as well as many visiting professorships and honorary lectureships in leading ophthalmology institutions and organizations around the world. Dr. Robin has held several academic ophthalmology positions at some of the country’s most prestigious institutions. Additionally, he has been involved as an investigator in scores of refractive surgery clinical studies, including several FDA-sponsored and industry-sponsored trials involving PRK and LASIK. His extensive experience and accomplishments have enabled him to be recognized as an authority in the field of refractive surgery. For the last several years, Dr. Robin has been recognized in the prestigious Trusted LASIK Surgeons and has been voted by his peers into several regional and national “Best Doctors” awards.
Dr. Robin and his wife have three grown children, two sons and one daughter. One son is a professional rock guitarist who also has a recording arts degree as well as a Masters in Business Entertainment. The other son is scheduled to graduate Dental School in Spring 2020 and already has a Masters in Business Administration degree. His daughter is an accomplished musical theatre performer in New York. Dr. Robin’s interests outside of ophthalmology include photography and travel, as well as attempting to keep up with his children’s exciting careers.
