Cherry Tabb, MA

Cherry Tabb has led a distinguished career in healthcare both as a practitioner and entrepreneur. After graduating from Wheaton College in Biblical Studies, and earning her Masters Degree in Theology/ Marriage and Family Counseling at Biola University, she spent two years working as an LPC (License Professional Counselor) specializing in marriage in family counseling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before developing and managing a multi-disciplinary healthcare organization serving the Washington DC area. At the age of 29, Cherry established a thriving, multi-million dollar interdisciplinary health organization that included two outpatient, hospital in-patient and partial hospital services . While in Washington, she founding board member of Operation Friendship, which provided counseling, housing and basic -necessity support to crack-cocaine street addicts.

In 1993, Cherry and 3 founding colleagues of 2020 Laser Centers explored emerging laser vision correction field. Representing the partnership she went to Canada, where the more experienced surgeons were practicing refractive surgery (prior to FDA approval of lasers in the US). Seeing a unique business opportunity in Canada, formed a partnership with Dr. Sheldon Herzig and co-founded the Herzig Eye Institute in Toronto. Under her business leadership and Dr. Herzig’s surgical expertise and stellar reputation as pioneer in field of cataract and refractive surgery, the Herzig Eye Institute has developed a world-renowned reputation for safety, quality care and “best practices” in advanced cataract and refractive surgery. The Herzig Eye Institute continually strives to remain at the forefront of technology and best practices with comprehensive cataract and refractive centres in Toronto and Ottawa with hundreds of referral sources from all over Canada, the US and around the world.

Cherry has been a paid consultant to VISX, Inc., AMO, Alcon Canada, Sigmacon, TearScience, Royal Bank of Canada, The Allen Institute, The Eleuthra Foundation. She has been a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO/WPO) since 1993. For her entire career, she has been active in civic and community affairs. In 2003, Cherry was one of three organizers for the Rally for America, commended by Stephen Harper, and the Ambassador Ambassador of the US for efforts that contributed to strengthening US-Canadian ties. She was awarded RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year for Innovation, and was honoured by the Israel Cancer Research Fund as a Woman of Action. Cherry has served as a director on several non-profit boards.

In her spare time, Cherry competes 5.0 Tennis Women’s Tennis in leagues and pro-AM charity events. She enjoys horseback riding, all things New Orleans and LSU, wine, traveling, hosting Pub-nights on Friday nights…anything to keep up with the loves of her life: 20 year old daughter Rachel and husband Sheldon. She holds three citizenships: USA, Cherokee Nation, and Canada.
