Andrew Crothers, M.D. is excited to help you enjoy what life can be like with your best possible vision. In fact, doing so is one of his greatest passions and what inspired him to become an ophthalmologist.
A partner at Eye Specialty Group and the medical director of Ridge Lake Ambulatory Surgery Center, Dr. Crothers is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Tennessee Medical Association, Mississippi Medical Association, and the Memphis Medical Society.
While earning his Bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Illinois, Dr. Crothers was awarded an Illinois General Assembly Scholarship and inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University and completed his ophthalmology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. During his residency, he was honored to be named chief resident and receive the Roger Hiatt award for outstanding research in ophthalmology. He went on to spend an additional year of training at the University of California San Diego, where he completed a fellowship in advanced medical and surgical care of the cornea and laser refractive surgery while also serving as a clinical instructor in the department of ophthalmology.
Dr. Crothers has performed thousands of successful eye surgeries, including being the first surgeon in the mid-south to be certified to perform the KAMRA inlay procedure. He regularly lectures to other eye specialists on cataract, cornea and refractive surgery and specializes in performing refractive surgery such as LASIK, PRK, corneal inlays, refractive lens exchange and blade-free laser cataract surgery using the latest lifestyle lens options.
