David J. Miller, MD is an ophthalmology resident at the University of Arizona – Tucson.
Originally from southeast Michigan, Dr. Miller earned his Master’s degree from the University of Michigan where he completed a research-focused program in Molecular and Integrative Physiology. He earned his medical degree from Central Michigan University College of Medicine and graduated with honors, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha national honor society. During his time in Michigan, he served his community through the University of Michigan Hope Clinic, and authored publications in the field of ophthalmology, including research in diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
During his residency training, Dr. Miller remains engaged in community service, medical student education, and clinical research. He currently serves southwest Arizona at the university- and Veterans Affairs-affiliated hospitals. He also enjoys serving in the neighboring state of Sonora, Mexico, where he and his colleagues provide free, comprehensive eye care to children and adults. He is actively engaged in medical student education and his most recent research efforts have been presented at the national level.
Dr. Miller is applying to cataract, refractive, and anterior segment fellowships. He enjoys connecting with patients and the attention to detail required in achieving good visual outcomes. He is interested in the full spectrum of cataract and refractive surgery and helping patients achieve their refractive goals at all stages of their lives. He is also interested in innovative approaches to challenging situations including complex cataracts and post-refractive states.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Miller can be found spending time with his wife and son. He enjoys hiking, cooking, photography, and travel.
