Giovanni Taibbi, MD

Giovanni Taibbi, MD is an Ophthalmology Resident with The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB), Galveston, TX. He received his medical degree from the University of Milan, Milan, Italy. Prior to starting Ophthalmology Residency, Dr. Taibbi completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Glaucoma and an Internship in Internal Medicine, both at UTMB.

In his many years of clinical research, Dr. Taibbi has developed particular expertise using and evaluating state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging modalities for glaucoma management, and has been deeply involved in the study of ocular structural and functional changes secondary to long-duration spaceflight, in collaboration with NASA.

Dr. Taibbi authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He is an active member of several scientific societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the Italian Scientists and Scholars of North America Foundation. Dr. Taibbi is an elected member of The National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi).

Dr. Taibbi is highly motivated in pursuing Refractive Surgery Fellowship training after Residency, and is committed to advance the field of Refractive Surgery.
