Alison Chiu, MD, PhD, FRANZCO, MBBS (Hons), BMedSc(Hons I), Grad Dip Refractive Surg is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with subspecialty interest in premium and complex cataract surgery, and refractive surgery including refractive lens exchange, phakic IOL and corneal laser-based refractive surgery. As one of the longest-serving principal surgeons at the laser vision correction centre Perfect Vision, she has contributed to the success of over 40,000 laser surgeries.
Her experience has seen her hold positions as a key opinion leader and speaker internationally. In Australia, she works both in private practice and as a Visiting Medical Officer in Public Hospitals. She is also committed to training specialists of the future. She is the supervisor of registrar training, a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) Examiner, and a Committee Member of NSW RANZCO. Dr. Chiu has been a lecturer and tutor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney and is a conjoint lecturer in Medicine at the University of NSW.
Dr Chiu holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, supported by prestigious scholarships at University College London and Cambridge University. Alison has presented research papers at national and international scientific meetings, published papers in the peer-reviewed literature, and written a book chapter for Oxford University Press. Over her career, she has received numerous scholarships and awards for her research.
