Mike daSilva, MD is an ophthalmology resident at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. His current practice settings include: the UCLA Stein Eye Institute and Ronald Reagan Memorial Hospital; the Veteran’s Administration Hospital of Greater Los Angeles; the two Los Angeles county hospitals Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center; and finally the UCLA Mobile Eye Clinic. Dr. daSilva intends to pursue anterior segment fellowship, to begin in July 2021.
Dr. daSilva considers patient education a large part of the physician’s duty, and he loves to talk to patients. He takes personal interest in his patients’ lives, both to make them comfortable in the office, and to improve the quality of their vision care. He is interested in the profound positive impact refractive surgery can have on his patients’ lives.
Dr. daSilva completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and still travels to at least one football game per year, despite the team’s recent woes. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating with the distinctions of two merit-based Regents’ Scholarships and being nominated to the AOA honors society. He completed his transitional year residency in general medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Dr. daSilva has been married to his beautiful wife, Laura, for six years. They have two extremely cute children: Elizabeth, age 3, and Nicholas, age 1. He is an avid fly-fisherman, competitive cyclist, and outdoorsman.
