Stephen LoBue, MD

Stephen LoBue, MD is a senior ophthalmology resident at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in Murrieta California, Stephen attended the University of San Diego where he graduated Cum Laude. He completed his medical education at St. George’s University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a distinction in research. His passion for research led him to a two-year surgical ophthalmic research fellowship under the tutelage of Timothy W. Olsen MD at Emory and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota prior to starting residency.

Dr. LoBue is a compassionate, patient-centered physician who is always striving for excellence through research, medical education, and patient satisfaction.

He is also interested in complex anterior segment surgery including MIGS, suture IOL, and refractive procedures. Dr. LoBue is currently applying to a refractive/anterior segment fellowship to further develop his passion within the field.

After fellowship, Dr. LoBue plans to practice with his father Thomas LoBue MD in Murrieta, California where he will lead the department in research and several active clinical trials.

Aside from ophthalmology, Stephen is passionate about weight lifting, tennis, paddle boarding, and trying to predict when the crypto bull market will end.
