Milad Modabber, MD, MSc, FRCSC, PCEO is a distinguished Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive surgeon, holding double-board certification in his field. As a respected member of the Herzig Eye Institute, Dr. Modabber brings his exceptional expertise and patient-focused care to his practice, where he performs the full spectrum of refractive procedures: SMILE, LASIK, PRK, corneal cross-linking, ICL, RLE and refractive cataract surgery.

After completing his medical training at McMaster University, Dr. Modabber went on to serve as co-chief resident during his Ophthalmology residency at McGill University. He also held the prestigious role of president of the Canadian Council of Ophthalmology Residents. Seeking further specialization, he pursued a fellowship in cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at the esteemed University of California, Davis. Additionally, Dr Modabber has completed the PHYSICIAN CEO Program offered exclusively at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Kellogg is consistently rated among the top programs for Executive Education in the world.

Dr. Modabber is a strong advocate for both education and patient care, reflected in his extensive contributions to research and scholarship in refractive eye surgery. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has presented at dozens of national and international conferences, earning the Best Paper of Session award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s (AAO) annual meeting. Additionally, Dr. Modabber has written book chapters for leading textbooks, such as “Cornea” and “Keratoconus.” He has received more than 30 national and international awards in recognition of his contributions to the field.

Beyond his work with Canada’s aboriginal populations, Dr. Modabber is deeply passionate about providing sight-restoring eye surgery, to those in need, around the world. He has participated in volunteer medical missions to India, Kenya, Mongolia, Jordan, and Costa Rica amongst others. His commitment to global health has earned him wide recognition, including the prestigious ASCRS Young Eye Surgeons International Service Grant and the Leadership Development Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

Dr. Modabber is strongly dedicated to giving back to his hometown community of Toronto, which has nurtured his success. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his loving family, playing sports (soccer in particular), and exploring the world through travel, photography and deep-sea diving.
