A native of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Kiper C. Nelson, MD earned a degree in engineering prior to attending the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After completing a residency in ophthalmology at Wake Forest Eye Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he completed a fellowship in cataract and lens implants under Dr. Lynn McMahan.
Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is on the President’s Council of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society and serves as a board member for the Society for Excellence in Eyecare. In 2006, he established the first stand-alone LASIK center in the Pine Belt and now offers 1-Visit Blade-free LASIK. He was also the first in Mississippi to perform and offer the Blade-free Cataract procedure.
