Alejandro Ruelas Barreras, MD was born and raised in the city of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and is currently working in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, at Buena Vista Eyecare. Dr Ruelas Barreras became a board-certified ophthalmologist in 2022 and specializes in cataract and refractive surgery. He enjoys ophthalmology as he finds it to be one of the most beautiful fields there can be, offering patients the best vision they can achieve, which drives his passion for excellence. He is continuously motivated to practice refractive surgery by witnessing day in and day out, how impactful the benefits of refractive surgery can be in the life of so many people, by allowing them to see better.
Dr Ruelas Barreras is a very meticulous and dedicated physician, always trying to offer his patients results that he himself would expect to receive. He employs the best techniques and technologies currently available. He studied medicine in Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa in Culiacán, Sinaloa, México from 2011-2018, and completed his residency training in Centro de Investigación y Docencia en Ciencias de la Salud (CIDOCS) in Culiacán, Sinaloa, México from 2019-2022. He then stayed one year longer to complete a fellowship in Anterior Segment Surgery (2022-2023).
Dr Ruelas Barreras loves sports and in his spare time, practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and also likes to play padel with his colleagues.
