Carolyn Shih, MD, MBA, MPH

Carolyn Y. Shih, MD, MBA, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Shih received her undergraduate degree with double honors from Brown University where she was elected to become a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Dr. Shih attended Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she received her Doctorate of Medicine. During medical school, she was named a Rifkind Research Fellow and received the Alvin Behrens Memorial Fund Award. Dr. Shih has also received a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University. She subsequently completed her residency at the Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University and her Corneal and External Disease fellowship at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary.

Dr. Shih specializes in corneal and external diseases and performs corneal transplants such as Penetrating Keratoplasty, Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty, Descemet Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty, and Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty. She also performs femtosecond laser cataract surgery, cornea collagen cross-linking, and laser vision correction.

Dr. Shih has published her clinical research in peer-reviewed journals, authored book chapters, and presented at national meetings including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. She is on the Medical Advisory Board for the New York Organ Donor and serves as the Medical Director of Northwell Health Garden City SurgiCenter.
