Patricia Sierra, MD

Patricia Sierra, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist who currently practices at Sacramento Eye Consultants, in Sacramento, California. She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal and external diseases, complex cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and refractive surgery.

Dr. Sierra is passionate about refractive surgery because of the impact that clear vision (without dependency on glasses and/or contacts) can have in improving the quality of people’s lives.

She was born and raised in Honduras and graduated with honors from Medical School at the National University of Honduras. She initiated her ophthalmic career by participating in research at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Eye and Ear Institute of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Sierra later pursued a cornea, glaucoma, and refractive surgery fellowship at Minnesota Eye Consultants and the Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is the author of multiple publications and book chapters in the area of refractive surgery.
She is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Cornea Society.

Dr. Sierra enjoys traveling back to her home country to teach young ophthalmologists and residents and also perform surgery for those in greatest need.
