Jocelyn Wu Shin Yin, MD(UKM), MS Ophthal(UM), AM(Mal), PgDip Cataract & Refractive Surgery (UK) graduated from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) with a Doctor of Medicine Degree. She has excellent academic achievements and received several awards during her undergraduate days. She has great passion in Medicine and was part of the International Board of Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) and is currently part of the AMSA Alumni. She presented a paper presentation in 20TH East-Asian Medical Conference 2007 in Taiwan and won first runner-up.
Dr Wu Shin Yin obtained her Basic Sciences in Ophthalmology, then furthered her postgraduate education at University Malaya and graduated with Master Surgery in Ophthalmology (UM) Universiti Malaya. She is certified by the College Of Ophthalmology Malaysia and a member of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia. Dr Wu Shin Yin completed her fellowship training in Refractive Surgery under Ulster University (United Kingdom) and at Asia Eye Specialist Centre.
Dr Wu Shin Yin has operated and worked in many Hospitals and Eye Centres, including Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (Klang), Hospital Shah Alam, Hospital Selayang, Pusat Pembedahan Katarak MAIWP, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Najihah (Kuala Pilah), Hospital Melaka, Hospital Tanjung Karang (visiting Specialist), Hospital Sabak Bernam (visiting) and Hospital Jempol (visiting).
Dr Wu Shin Yin is a gazetted eye specialist and is acknowledged as a full- fledged Ophthalmologist by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH). She is also registered under the National Specialist Register (NSR) in Malaysia.
As an advocate of visual rehabilitation, gazetted had become a speaker in various Eye Care Courses to educate doctors and paramedics to provide better eye care to the community. Dr Wu Shin Yin has also presented various papers and poster presentations in both local and international conferences. She won the Best Poster Award in the 28th APACRS (Asia Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) International Annual Meeting.
Patients find her to be a caring and understanding doctor who provides skillful and comprehensive eye care, including outpatient ophthalmic care, eye screening and eye check-ups, cataract surgeries, pterygium excision surgeries, laser therapy in diabetic retinopathy, laser treatments, dry eye treatment, and many more.
During her free time, Dr Wu Shin Yin enjoys playing the piano. She completed her Grade 8 ABRSM piano and often plays during events. She is a mother of 3 children and enjoys volunteering for eye screening programs and cataract carnivals.
