Robert Fintelmann, MD grew up in Southern Germany hiking with my family of six. After completing medical training at the University of Ulm in Germany, Dr Fintelmann traveled to the United States for his Ophthalmology residency, which he accomplished at the prestigious Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr Fintelmann went on to pursue a Corneal and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and joined Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in 2011.
Dr Fintelmann prides himself on providing excellence in ophthalmic patient care as I have had extensive clinical and surgical experience with corneal disease, cataracts, and vision correction. Despite being early in his career Dr Fintelmann has performed thousands of cataract surgeries (including laser assisted cataract surgery), over two thousand vision correction procedures (including LASIK, PRK, and ICL), and hundreds of corneal transplants (DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, PKP, IEK).
Dr Fintelmann is committed to innovation and advancing the field of Ophthalmology with particular interest in Refractive surgery, a rapidly advancing field, which fascinates Dr Fintelmann with the great and life changing outcomes we are able to achieve with ever improving technology.
