Samir Jabbour, MD, CM, FRSCS, DABO

Samir Jabbour, MD, CM, FRSCS, DABO is an ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. He offers his expertise to patients at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal and the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. Dr. Jabbour is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Montreal and an Adjunct Clinical Professor at McGill University. He heads the Cornea Fellowship program at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, training the next wave of specialists in the field.

In his role with the Vision Group, Dr. Jabbour focuses on refractive surgeries across Quebec and Ontario. He is proficient in a range of procedures like Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), refractive lens exchange, and phakic lens implantation. In just the past two years, he has conducted over 2000 LASIK and 1200 cataract surgeries. Additionally, he’s skilled in addressing keratoconus and offers treatments like corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) and and CXL with topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy.

Dr Jabbour earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery from McGill University. He completed his training in ophthalmology a the University of Montreal where he served as chief resident. Dr. Jabbour pursued two years of fellowships in cornea and refractive surgery at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, USA and at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. He is board certified in Ophthalmology in both Canada and the United States. He’s also completing a Master’s program at Harvard University.

Dr. Jabbour’s dedication to research is evident through his contributions to reputable journals such as Ophthalmology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of Refractive Surgery. His commitment to excellence has earned him awards from institutions like Harvard, the University of Montreal, and the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal. Beyond his medical endeavors, he collaborates with the Canadian Ophthalmological Society to promote eye health awareness and has made appearances on various radio shows, TV programs, and articles in Quebec
