Jake McMillin, MD

Jake McMillin, MD is a cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon. He serves the communities of East Tennessee at his home office in Knoxville and satellite offices in the surrounding areas. Dr. McMillin has specialized in the field of ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery to help others improve their vision. He finds personal satisfaction and fulfillment in helping others improve their lives through better vision.

Dr. McMilin’s practice of medicine is a hands-on approach, making himself easily accessible to his patients before and after their surgeries. He believes that communication is the key component to both healthy and unhealthy patient-physician relationships. Most importantly, his patients receive world-class care, close to where they live, in the Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor, & Haun clinics, laser center, and surgery center.

Dr. McMillin has always been motivated by goals and challenges. Refractive surgery excites him as there is always something new to learn and master. He firmly believes that if you aren’t moving forward, you are falling behind.

Dr. McMillin completed his undergraduate degree and his medical school degree at the University of South Carolina where I graduated summa cum laude and magna cum laude respectively, and where he also received Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society recognition while in medical school. Dr. McMillin went on to a residency program at Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, South Carolina at the Medical University of South Carolina and performed a cornea, refractive, and anterior segment surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. McMillin is a husband and father of 4, and an avid outdoorsman who also enjoys watersports. He finds great joy in charity work and hopes to include this work increasingly in the future of his practice.
