Raymond Mark Stein, MD, FRCSC is the Medical Director of Bochner Eye Institute and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences. Dr Stein was designated a Benjamin Franklin scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, and then went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Toronto, an ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a Cornea and External Disease fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr Stein has been honored with numerous awards from a variety of prestigious international medical organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Intraocular Implant Club, the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, and the Joint Commission on Allied Health in Ophthalmology. He served as President of the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Chief of Ophthalmology at the Scarborough Hospital.
Dr Stein has been a pioneer in the field of refractive and cataract surgery with the early adoption of the excimer laser for PRK in 1991, LASIK in 1994, Corneal Crosslinking in 2008, Topography-guided PRK in 2010, Femtosecond laser for cataract surgery in 2012, and a new Corneal Laser for Age-related Macular Degeneration in 2017. Dr. Raymond Stein has been invited internationally to present his outcomes and techniques at medical conferences, hospitals, and universities. He has published numerous articles in scientific publications, book chapters, and books. He was honored by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery by delivering an Innovators Lecture for his work on Topography-Guided PRK and Crosslinking in 2015.
