Andres Parra, MD is a renowned refractive, lens, and cataract surgeon leading the advanced vision correction surgical division at Pacific Vision Institute. Dr. Parra is passionate about providing the highest possible surgical outcomes to his patients and is committed to the American Academy of Ophthalmology‘s mission of protecting sight and empowering lives. His clinical interests include working with the latest innovative laser and lens technology to perfect patient outcomes.
Dr. Parra graduated at the top of his class from the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine. While at Baylor College of Medicine, he served as the President and Chair of Ophthalmology Interest Group and founded Unite for Sight BCM chapter, both organizations focused on advancing the field of ophthalmic surgery. Under his leadership, Unite for Sight BCM chapter was named the Global Health Society of the year. Following medical school, Dr. Parra completed Ophthalmology Residency at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute where he served as Chief Resident. As an eye surgeon who is highly respected in his field, Dr. Parra taught numerous refractive surgery and cataract procedures to his peers and has received multiple awards, including nomination for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Excellence Award.
Dr. Parra’s career includes bringing leading edge, evidence-based surgical innovations into his work with patients. He was one of the first surgeons in the US to perform lens and cataract surgery with the Light Adjustable Lens, an innovative technology allowing optimal customization of vision following lens replacement and cataract surgery. His work has been published in numerous professional journals.
In demand, Dr. Parra has been invited to lecture extensively in the US and abroad. He has presented his work at the multiple ophthalmic meetings, including American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Parra has served on Faculty at the University of Houston College of Medicine and Optometry where he trained the new generations of eye care experts.
Dr. Parra has performed thousands of vision correction surgeries and his patients come from all walks of life. They include professional athletes, artists and photographers, entrepreneurs, professors, fellow doctors and nurses, and patients traveling from abroad, among others. As one of the leading ophthalmologists in the country, Dr. Parra performs refractive surgery with the most advanced lasers, lenses and techniques, including LASIK, PRK, EVO ICL, among others. He is considered one of the top experts in lens replacement and cataract surgery, utilizing the most advanced lens technologies, such as Light Adjustable Lens, numerous multifocal and EDOF design lenses, and toric lenses.

In his free time, Dr. Parra enjoys traveling andf spending time outdoors with his wife Brittany and their young daughters, usually with a camera in hand. Dr. Parra was born in Colombia and he is fluent in Spanish in addition to English.
