Aaron Waite, MD

Aaron N. Waite, MD his wife, and five children are pleased to be back in Utah serving patients in Utah County and throughout the Wasatch Front. Dr. Waite was introduced to ophthalmology while working as an ophthalmic technician and scribe where he witnessed the life-changing effects of modern eye surgery. His desire to dedicate himself to ophthalmic surgery was solidified on a volunteer mission trip to Guatemala where blind patients had their vision restored.

After graduating cum laude from Brigham Young University, Dr. Waite earned his medical degree from the University of Utah, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He completed his internal medicine internship at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, and residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee, earning the 2010 ASCRS Foundation Resident Excellence Award. At the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Waite completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery.

After two years in private practice, Dr. Waite was invited back to the University of Tennessee Hamilton Eye Institute as the director of cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery, where he trained eye surgeons and participated in multiple research studies.

Dr. Waite specializes in advanced vision correction including LASIK, SMILE, ICLs, refractive lens exchange, and refractive cataract surgery. He is an expert in corneal surgeries including DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, and PKP. He is highly sought after by other ophthalmologists, optometrists, and physicians to perform their personal eye surgeries.

Dr. Waite is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is frequently invited to speak at symposiums and seminars and continues his research studies in refractive and corneal surgery. In addition, Dr. Waite has enjoyed the following recognitions:

    • ASCRS Foundation Resident Excellence Award, February 2010

In his spare time, Dr. Waite has contributed his skill and efforts to train ophthalmic physicians in Haiti in conjunction with the World Cataract Foundation.
